How do I place an order for my pet’s prescription?

It’s simple! Search for your pet’s medication, provide information about your pet and vet. And leave the rest to us. We will contact your veterinarian, custom make your pet’s prescription, and ship it right to your door.

What kind of medications does WDP offer?

Wood Dale Pharmacy carries over 200 different types of medications. These medications can be compounded into different formulations such as capsules, tiny tablets, chewable treats, paw pastes, etc.

We currently do not compound injectable or ophthalmic medications.

Why does my pet need compounded medication?

Compounded pet medications are made-to-order with the unique needs of animals in mind. Your pet may benefit from using a compounded medication if they have a specific medical need that cannot be addressed by an FDA-approved drug. An example of this could be:

  • Your pet has difficulty taking pills 
  • Your pet needs medication in a strength that is not available 
  • Your pet is allergic to an ingredient in their medication

I don’t have a prescription yet. Can you contact the vet for me?

Absolutely! Just provide us with your pet and vet information and we will take over from there. 

Will I be notified once the vet approves my pet’s prescription?

Definitely! If we obtain verification from the vet on your behalf, we will keep you looped in. Make sure you provide us with an email address along with your phone number so we can stay in touch. 

Can I still place an order if I don’t have a prescription on hand?

Yes! A prescription is not needed to place an order.

For new orders, click here to tell us more about your pet, the medication they are on, and their vet. We will contact the vet on your behalf to request a prescription.

How can I check the status of my order?

We will call or email you as soon as we receive a prescription for your pet. We will also email you to confirm payment and email you a tracking number when your order is shipped.


How can I submit my prescription to the pharmacy?

Prescriptions can be submitted in person or via mail. Our address is: 232 E. Irving Park Rd. Wood Dale, IL 60191

If you don’t have a prescription yet or you are unable to mail your prescription, no problem! Start here and we will contact the vet on your behalf. 

How can I figure out if the item I need needs a prescription?

Prescription items typically carry an “Rx” badge next to the medication name. If you’re unsure, just send us a text and we can help you determine if your pet’s medication requires a prescription or not. 

How can I tell my vet to send my pet’s prescription to Wood Dale Pharmacy?

You can provide your vet with the contact information for the pharmacy to get the process started. Alternatively, we can also get in touch with your vet on your behalf. 

The best way for your vet to send in a prescription safely and securely is through our Online Ordering System. They may also call us toll free at 866-686-2396 or fax us your pet’s prescription at 866-231-2664.


Can you flavor my pet’s medication?

We absolutely can! In fact, we have over 20 different flavor options developed just for pets like our crowd-pleasing chicken marshmallow.  

I don’t know what flavor my pet will like. Do you offer recommendations?

Why, that’s what we do best! Our pharmacy staff is experienced and knowledgeable about flavor profiles and which type of animal prefers which. Call or text us to start the chat.

Do you offer medications for animals other than cats and dogs?

WDP offers medications for birds, reptiles, small animals such as rabbits, hamsters and guinea pigs, and all other types of pets in addition to cats and dogs. 

At this time, Wood Dale Pharmacy does not service food-producing animals.

What is the process of compounding?

Our licensed pharmacists take raw active ingredients in 100% pure form and make them into animal-friendly capsules, chewable treats, topical ointments and creams, etc. to fit the unique needs of each of our patients.

Can compounded medications expire?

Compounded medications, just like any other medications, carry a specific shelf life. Since expiration dates can vary greatly based on the formulation, always refer to the expiration date on your product for the date beyond which the medication should not be used. If you have questions about where to find this information, get in touch with our pharmacy staff. 

Is there a best practice to follow when disposing of compounded medications?

Shipping & Delivery

How much does it cost to ship my order?

Wood Dale Pet Pharmacy offers fast and free Shipping on ALL orders over $59.65. Orders are shipped via USPS First Class with Tracking. We also ship via FedEx and UPS. 

How long will it take to receive my order?

Most new orders received by 12Pm CST are shipped out the SAME DAY. Orders placed after 12 PM CST are shipped the next business day. Refrigerated packages are sent Monday through Thursday. Shipping times are dependent on the courier service being used but typically do not take longer than 2 days. 

Do you offer tracking for shipped orders?

We will send you an email with your tracking information for all shipped orders.

Can I pick up my order in person?

You sure can! We welcome walk-ins during the pharmacy’s normal business hours from 9:00 am CST to 5:00 pm CST Monday through Friday. 

Is there a minimum order requirement for shipped orders?

The minimum order requirement to qualify for our standard free shipping is $59.65.

Can I place an order with an international address?

At this time, Wood Dale Pharmacy only ships within the contiguous United States.

Do you ship refrigerated items?

We do! Refrigerated packages are sent Monday through Thursday using insulated packaging and cold packs. 


How can I make a payment? 

Once a prescription order has been received by the pharmacy, our staff will contact you to obtain the payment information. We accept all major credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover as well as debit cards.

Please note that we do not accept Care Credit at this time. 

Can I put my card on file for refills? 

Of course! Any credit or debit card can be saved on file for future use. 

How can I apply a promo code?

If you have a promotional code for a prescription product, please let our staff know at the time payment information is being obtained. 

I need to cancel my order. How do I do that?

Due to the nature of compounded medications, each order is custom-made based on an individual prescription. If you need to cancel your order, please contact the pharmacy immediately to find out if the compounding process can be stopped. 

How can I request a refund for the order I received?

If you need to request a refund for an order you received, contact the pharmacy directly. Please note that the law prohibits the resale of prescription medications; refer to FDA’s guidelines for disposing medications if they can no longer be of use. 


Do you offer automatic refills?

If you have a valid prescription for your pet’s medication or remaining refills on file, you can request to be set up for automatic refills. This can be done over the phone, via text, in person, or through email. 

If your pet’s prescription is expiring soon, our A-team will reach out to your vet to obtain approval for additional refills. We will contact you if we need any additional information from you. 

How do I cancel auto refills?

Automatic refills can be canceled at any time by contacting our pharmacy staff.

Can I change the items in my auto refill order?

You can request to add or remove items from your auto refill order at any time. Let our pharmacy staff know if you need to make changes to your auto refill setup  as soon as possible. 

Can I change the card on file for my auto refill order?

Changes to the payment method can be made by contacting our pharmacy staff. 


Is WDP an accredited pharmacy?

Wood Dale pharmacy has been accredited through PCAB® as well as NABP®. 

Is WDP a licensed compounding pharmacy?

Wood Dale Pharmacy holds a license in the states of Illinois, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
